London-Lisboa has become one of the traditional spring long distance rallyes, this year seeing its 6th edition. It´s perfect for people who want to enjoy a variety of roads & weather. Traditionally the rally will start with good grey skies and finish with southern sunny days. But beware, with modern climate changes, the rules may be read upside down. When the Rallye started in Greenwich, heavy snow pepared the Pyrenees and north of Spain, places planned to be crossed in the 2386 mile trip. It appears the old machinery kept up through all this, some 60 this year. Although all kinds of cars are allowed, most of the entrees are reliable 'modern' postwars like the XK pictured above. This event is organised by the Historic Endurance Rallyng Organisation (H.E.R.O.) and this year is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Museo de Caramulo, where the participants spend their last relaxing evening before the final 'etappe' to Lisbon where they will arrive today, May 5. So, if you are in or near Lisboa, this may an interesting break of the Sunday to see the cars from London coming in.
