Throwback Thursday: Midlife crisis remedy: a young LeaF

Four years ago Jeroen Booij did this write up, the auction preview for a very nice Lea Francis offered in 2013. Possibly due to the ''...young Leaf' title this was the best viewed post-war story ever. Thanks Jeroen Booij, thanks dear visitors. We keep trying to entertain  and inform you. Just to be sure the car above will not be for sale at Coys next sale, 9 April in Essen.

You know what men do when the midlife crisis all of a sudden appears. The grey suit makes place for Hawaï shirt and bermuda, the family MPV is replaced by a second hand Fatboy or Ferrari, while the faithful wife is exchanged for a young leaf, too. And, yes, they usually feel terribly sorry about all this after a while. So is there a remedy? There may be. Let us tip you off for one leaf in particular, and an attractive one, too, or so we think. This Lea-Francis - affectionately known as LeaF by fans of the make - 14hp Sports ticks all the boxes of desirability. Lea-Francis is of course best known for its pre war models, but the post war 14hp line is particularly noteworthy too - with the Sports model probably being the most desirable of these (we are guessing the estate version may remind too much of a people carrier). The car that’s been offered by Coys now is very well conserved. Just like a new love should be. So please do not turn it into a 14hp Special - if you like to do that to this young leaf, then you may just be better off with the obvious Fatboy. (photos courtesy Coys).
