Retired racer still attracts the girls

The Altmühltal Classic Sprint may sound like an obscure hillclimb in a dark corner of Transylvania - according to the organizers it is the ‘Franconian Mille Miglia’. Sounds good. Although when you know the rally’s route from Nürnberg to the Altmühltal and back to Nürnberg is also a 54 minute train-trip, it makes this one seem perhaps slightly less of a challenge. The competitors never the less spend three days to tackle the distance! ‘Three days of passion and fun’, the official website mentions, and we have to admit that it has to be fun, then.

Take this Ferrari 500 Mondial, which was entered in this year’s event. The 'Franconian Mille Miglia' must have been like a drive to the bar compared to the real thing, which Luigi Taramazzo undertook with this particular car back in 1955. But it still attracted the girls in a similar way as it must have done back in its racing heydays. The picture provided to us just made us wonder who the lovely ladies are? Rally competitors? Probably not, since they wear similar dresses. And you know that only men can wear similar uniforms when a black tie is requested. The organizers perhaps? No, they look pretty different. Hang on. Found them – they are the band. Yes. seems like fun.
