No, this not PostWarBike, but we have noticed that our readers have a keen interest in bikes, too. And as a matter of fact, the number of motor bikes offered for sale and sold on through this website continues to increase.
So let’s have an exclusive look at an auction that will take place in Vienna in another couple of days on April 6. On that day the Austrian auctioneers of Dorotheum will sell an impressive collection of scooters, formerly owned by the late Werner Schwöglhofer. He was a collector of scooters of all ages, but also of anything related to them: parts, tools as well as of scooter models and memorabilia. His main store room was in his house in a village near the Hungarian Border at the Neusiedlersee and it had to be seen to be believed!
The collection contains almost all types of Lambretta scooters – from the original version from 1948 until the last electronic variant. It was Schwöglhofer’s aim to collect at least one example of every type of Lambretta ever produced. But he had other types of scooters, too, from manufacturers such as Lohner, Kauba, Maico, Rumi, KTM, HMW and many more, several of which are ultra-rare. The full catalogue with all the 344 lots on offer can be seen here. Viewing days start on April the 3rd at Dorotheum’s premises in Vösendorf.
