One of the many celebrations this year is that of bus company Setra in Ulm, Germany. Now owned by Daimler, Setra produced its first bus in 1951. Unlike other buses, this one did not have a truck chassis as a base, instead a self-supporting frame was lined with sheet metal to form the vehicle's body. The celebration was held at the Retro Classics in Stuttgart, where you may also have seen this other bus made in 1956 by Setra on an Opel Blitz chassis. It was a rather compact bus, so the trailer made by Kässbohrer was needed to compensate for the lack of space in the luggage compartment.
