No doubt you’ve seen the movie “Le Mans” , a dramatic production by Steve McQueen. Together with “Grand Prix” by James Gardner, we rate them among the best racing movies ever made. Perhaps you remember the opening scenes of “Le Mans"(YouTube) in which Steve drives a gray  Porsche 911S through the French countryside to the circuit. It was the personal transport of Steve during the making of the movie and he later took it with him to the USA where it stayed in his personal collection of cars for several years. While on the movie set, the Porsche was extensively photographed, with McQueen always near it or aboard. This still very original Porsche will be offered by RM at their auction in Monterey on August 19-20. Considering the fact that every item related to Steve McQueen is highly collectable, we have no doubt that this Porsche will have no trouble finding a happy new owner.
