Techno-Classica Essen 2022 — in pictures

After the very busy and energetic Salon Rétromobile in Paris, it was only a few days before the next major European car show began — Techno-Classica Essen in Germany. Our team went there last Friday to visit the show and were curious to see what the atmosphere was like.

When we arrived, we quickly noticed the differences between the German and the French shows. There were still several COVID entry restriction in force, including face mask, covid passport etc, all checked by the 'hygiene scouts' — and they were strict! This was reflected in the number of visitors. Previous years have been very crowded, but this year that was not the case. There were fewer stands than before, and both the smaller number of halls and open spaces were a bit of a disappointment. What was not disappointing at all was the quality of the cars — from an amazing Maserati 4CLT driven by Fangio to a stunning 1954 Alfa Romeo 1900 C SS Ghia Special, which won the award for most beautiful car at the event. As usual Porsches were available in practically any colour you like and the Gullwing was another desirable car that was offered a lot. We really liked the Ottovu, the restored and unrestored Land Rovers, an original Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche tractors, a small Messerschmitt and a recently painted Veritas, to name a few.

Enjoy the photos.
