The 1951 Wagner-BMW under research.

When it comes to BMW 328 powered tubular chassis racing cars everybody is an expert. Everybody knows it's  fake. Everybody knows it's a bitza. Everybody knows it is absolutely hands on the bible honest. Fact is that cars like these are tough research material when you really want to shift fact from fiction. With cars that were built in an not overdocumented era. That were raced, were crashed, were cloned, were scrapped...and rebuilt again. They - like all great cars - had near to zero value in the fifties, sixties, seventies, eighties. Even the high praised Veritas have long been seen as a BMW bastards. But now, yes. When you got your research and paperwork right, you end up with a fortune. If not, you end up with a pile of parts that may bring a nice sum as well, but with a few hundred thousand gap with the first option. Now this car from the eclectic collection of Terry Bennet has a few facts to go with it. Start here with your research in the remaining days before the auction:  the car has a Fiat 1100 drivetrain. Also it has a BMW 328 engine. Further it is said to have been built for Honoré Wagner from Luxembourg. And that it was seen at the starting grid of the 1952 Eifelrennen in Germany (check here: car nr. 20 ; group S2.0) And it is with the current owner for more than 15 years. Terry Bennett has always been a true collector but now likes to sell due to health issues.  When he bought it back then he wasn't crazy. He wasn't eager to buy a made up toy. So hey, he may be right...
