The Brazilian Anglia Mystery

Some time ago we received this photo that dates from 1947 and was taken in Brazil. We see a long, long row of Ford Anglia’s (click!). The caption that came with the photo said that the Anglia’s, after having arrived at the Brazilian port of Santos, were driven 200 miles over a 2600ft pass in the Serra de Santos mountains, to the town of Curitiba, the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná. It is the largest city with the biggest economy of both Paraná and southern Brazil. Our problem is that the photo caption doesn’t tell us why the Anglia’s were driven to Curitiba. Was there a large Ford dealership; were they used for the city council or what? Who can shed some light on this?
