Wanted: some more history on a 1948 Bentley Mk VI

Peter Hauck from Germany likes to learn more about the origin of his 1948 Bentley Mk VI. He writes:

"The car has engine # B459 and chassis # B417.  The first owner was Edward Lumley & Sons Ltd. (Australia?) Around the year 1980 the car was rebuilt into a Bentley special looking like a  Drophead Coupe from 1931. This modification probably was made in London. After the rebuild the car was sold to Florida and in 1998 it came to Germany. First to a Mr. Thorsten Scholl an then to me. I would be happy to learn more about the coachbuilder working on the car in 1980."

editor: dear Peter, looking at the overall appearance of the car we would not be surprised if you have one of the cars produced by Mallalieu Cars Ltd. in Oxforshire, UK. See the video documentary shot in the late seventies. The cars were based on Mk VI Saloons.
