What are these GP professionals looking at?

Found recently in a stash of pictures, unseen before, taken at Zandvoort Grand Prix’ of the mid-1960s: this image. Along with many others catching the period atmosphere back in the day 'when sex was safe and racing dangerous'. We’re pretty sure you will recognise the chap on the left. But who are the others? And perhaps even more intriguing: what on earth are they looking at? Have they walked outside the pit box trying to catch a bit more light? The man in the centre has taken off his glasses to switch over to a clever little magnifier to study something undeniably small in a much concentrated manner. Is it a broken small end bush? A toothed segment? Fact is that the whole team is very much involved with his findings!
