Dear postwarclassicians,
find here my solution of this marvellous quiz ...

Day1
This can be two cars…
Originally it is the Porsche 917-023 Long-Tail of 1969, first with 4.494cc-engine with 580hp; upgraded in 1970 to 4.9 liter. Aircooled twelve-cylinder V-engine with a cylinder bank angle of 180°, in later cars upgraded up to 5.4 liter.
This car was in the ownership of Porsche AG (1969), Porsche Salzburg (1970), Vasek Polak (1973), Matsuda Collection (1982), since 2000 it is with Julio Palmaz.
917-023 was the winner of the 1970 LeMans 24 hours, drivers: Herrmann and Attwood.
Second car: In the Porsche-Museum is on display an externally indistinguishable copy of the car.

Day2
Ferrari 166 – might be chassis 011F, built in 1948/9 for Formula2, first driven by Fangio at Monza GP, first place. In winter 49/50 temporarily modified to Formula Libre specs (with Roots supercharger), rebuilt in march to F2 standards.
166 was the successor to the Ferrari 159 with its 1.9-liter to 2.0-liter V12 engine with an overhead camshaft (bore × stroke 60 × 58 mm, later 60 × 58.8 mm, displacement in 1992 and 1995 cc). The 166 had a box frame, front double wishbone and a rear rigid axle. For the first time civil GT variants were offered in addition to the pure racing versions.

Day3
The Jaguar C-Type (also called the Jaguar XK120-C) is a racing sports car, the "C" stands for "competition".
XK120’s 3.4-litre twin-cam, straight-6 engine here originally was tuned to around 205 bhp (153 kW). The early C-Types were fitted with SU carburetors and drum brakes. Later C-Types (mid 1953) are more powerful, using triple twin-choke Weber carburettors and high-lift camshafts. They are also lighter, and from mid 1953 braking performance was improved by disc brakes on all four wheels. The lightweight, multi-tubular, triangulated frame was designed by William Heynes. Heynes, Knight and Sayer together developed the aerodynamic alloy-body.
Produced between May 1952 starting with XKC001 and ending August 1953 XK054. The original alloy body was marked with the prefix K.
The C-Type was successful in racing, it won the Le Mans 24 hours race in 1952 and 1953.

Day4
Cheetah was the make of Bill Thomas from Anaheim, California. Originally producing racing cars he got in 1963 an agreement with Chevrolet for the delivery of parts for a sports- and racing car. Around 30 of the planned cars were built between 1963 and 1965.
The base formed a tubular frame, designed by Don Edmunds. A small two-seater coupe body was mounted. Impressive gullwing doors. One vehicle was an open two-seater.
The (mostly) 5.300ccm-V8 engine, 520 hp from Chevrolet was installed as far behind the front axle as possible for good weight distribution. Sources say, that the chassis and drum-brakes had not been equivalent to the powerful engine.

Day5
1985 Toyota Celica TwinCam Turbo (TA64) Group B rally car
In September 1982, the first Celica turbo was launched in Japan for the local market only. The GT-T (TA63) came with the twin-spark 1.8-liter 3T-GTE engine, W55 5-speed manual gearbox, a limited slip differential. To meet the FISA regulation for Group B Rally Car to compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC), 200 units of the Celica GT-TS were built. These were the basic cars for Group B Celica Twincam Turbo (TA64) which were built and rallied by Toyota Team Europe (TTE). The Group B Celica TCT made its WRC debut in the 1983 Rally Finland. The production car had a 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp) engine, and with a 320 bhp (239 kW; 324 PS) 4T-GTE engine, the fully works rally car was the most powerful third-generation Celica.
Kankkunen and Waldegard won several times the Safari Rallye and the Rallye Cote d’Ivoire on these Celicas.

Day6
The Allard K1 was built from1946 to 1950.
Fitted were Ford sv-3622-cc-V8 engines with around 90hp.
The construction was nearly identical to the M, L, and P models except that it featured only two seats and the chassis was shortened to 106” as opposed to 112” of the other models. The K1 was intended for customers that wanted a car that was equally capable on the road as it was the track.
The K1 did not produce the sales that the Allard Motor Company hoped for, built in an overall number of less than 200 cars, among these were 32 sold as bare chassis.
Allard was a british car manufacturer from Clapham/London, founded in 1946 by Sydney Allard as "Allard Motor Company Ltd.", closing in 1966.

Day7
Ford Falcon Race car (1964/1965)
The Falcons were launched in 1959, here we see a car of the second generation, built in 1965/1965 with a hardtop-carosserie. Available as inline-6cyl. and V8, in 1964 year Ford added a Sprint Package, which gave the Falcon the 260 V8, a stiffer suspension, and a louder exhaust, later was added the 289 V8. From 1965, the three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission was available. Front seat belts were standard.
The Falcon-line was produced until 2016, so it was the longest used car-modelname of the Ford company.

Thank you for this quiz, enjoy the year 2019 - best regards from the Nahe Valley!
