Will Cuba get flooded with new cars?

Early December a sudden rain storm hit Havanna. Sturdy American classics and quite a number european classics of the same period easily survived the flood, not to mention the decades of intense use. No trailer queens here!

Last weeks news seems to ruin the fabulous cuban automotive landscape now the government has softened up the 50 year old embargo on the import of new foreign cars. But before you start crying. The amount of cars allowed to be imported is very small and outside costly resort hotels and rental companies there are very-very few Cubans who can afford to buy a new boring car. 

Maybe, before it is too late Cuba and its automotive landscape should be added to the Unesco World Heritage List.
